About Investment Funds
By investing in a fund, you won’t have to decide in which stocks to invest and it will be professionally managed to achieve the best possible returns. Because your money is pooled together, your money will be spread over a larger number of shares, which reduces the risk of your investment. When money is paid in, the fund manager uses it to buy assets, typically stocks and shares.
There are different types of funds, but the main ones you will encounter are Unit Trusts, Open-ended Investment Companies (OEICS), Offshore Funds and Investment Trusts, all of which are generically referred to as Investment Funds.
Funds we deal with
We deal with Units Trusts, OEICs & ICVCs, all of which can be purchased with an ISA wrapper.
Invest through a platform
When you invest through a platform your investment funds will be held within your General Investment Accounts (GIA).
A Themed focus
A fund manager will often focus on a particular sector and aim to produce an income for investors, or to produce capital growth.
Benefits of an Investment Fund
- More investment opportunities: Pool your money with other investors to take advantage of investment opportunities more easily than if you bought the individual assets yourself.
- Managed by experts: Fund managers use their knowledge, experience and research to help your money grow and provide you with an income, if required.
- Spreading the risk: Invested across a number of different companies, you're not relying too heavily on the fortunes of any one company.
- Available as an ISA: Put your Investment Fund into an ISA wrapper and benefit from tax-free savings.
