Premier Miton Optimum Income Fund

The objective of the Fund is to provide a yield of 7% per annum together with the prospect of capital growth over the long-term, being five years or more.

The objective of the Fund is to provide a yield of 7% per annum together with the prospect of capital growth over the long-term, being five years or more. Five years is also the minimum recommended period for holding shares in this Fund. This does not mean that the Fund will achieve the objective over this, or any other, specific time period and there is a risk of loss to the original capital invested. The Fund’s target yield is not guaranteed and may change if the assumptions on which the target is calculated change. Income will be paid four times a year as dividend distributions. The Investment Adviser aims to achieve the objective of the Fund by investing in an actively managed portfolio with a minimum of 80% of its assets in shares in companies listed in the UK.

Premier Miton Optimum Income is the most consistent IA UK Equity Income fund of the past decade, beating the FTSE All Share, the most common benchmark in the sector, in seven of the past 10 years and its peer group average in eight. Premier Miton Optimum Income aims to provide a yield of 7% per annum together with the prospect of capital growth over periods of at least five years. To deliver on this pledge, it sells covered call options. Emma Mogford, who runs the fund alongside Geoff Kirk, said this characteristic helped the fund hold up in the volatility of the past few years – it beat its sector and benchmark in 2020, 2021 and 2022 – as the option premium delivered a positive return when markets fell.
